Van Lanschot Kempen trading update for the third quarter of 2026

Highlights
  • Strong third-quarter net profit, exceeding the first and second quarters, driven by higher interest income and commission income
  • Net AuM inflows of €20.8 billion in the first nine months, of which Private Clients Netherlands: €2.1 billion, Private Clients Belgium: €0.1 billion, and Investment Management Clients: €18.6 billion
  • Client assets rose by 15% to €207.1 billion and AuM by 17% to €186.7 billion, compared with the end of 2025
  • Capital position remains strong, with a CET1 ratio of 17.1%

Jeroen Kroes, Chief Financial Officer, said: “Van Lanschot Kempen achieved a strong result in the third quarter. Clients entrusted more of their wealth to us, contributing to a 17% increase in assets under management (AuM) in the first nine months, to €186.7 billion. Commission income also grew and interest income rose in line with our previously communicated guidance of around €200 million for the full year. As a result, net profit was higher than in the first quarter and also exceeded the figure for the second quarter.”

In the third quarter, the global economy faced rising energy prices and interest rate levels. European equities were more affected by rising oil prices than US equities, while higher interest rates put pressure on long-term bonds. These developments were also partly reflected in Van Lanschot Kempen’s market performance. Against this backdrop, the focus remains on creating long-term value, with clients continuing to share this perspective.

In the Netherlands, both new and existing clients entrusted Van Lanschot Kempen with more of their assets. This resulted in strong net inflows of €0.6 billion at Private Clients Netherlands in the third quarter. In Belgium, there were small net outflows of €0.1 billion.

At Investment Management Clients, net inflows amounted to €0.8 billion, driven by inflows in liquid investment strategies, private markets solutions and fiduciary management. In addition, earlier this month the transfer of the fiduciary management activities of Aegon Asset Management (Aegon AM) to Van Lanschot Kempen was announced, representing €26 billion in assets (as at 30 June 2026). The phased transition of clients and activities will take place from the third quarter of 2027 through mid-2028. The collaboration is also expanding, with Aegon AM becoming Van Lanschot Kempen’s strategic partner in alternative fixed income.

At Investment Banking Clients, preparations for the joint venture with KBC Securities, which is scheduled to commence before year-end, are progressing according to plan. This partnership will provide clients with broader Benelux equity research coverage, pan-European expertise in real estate and life sciences, and enhanced trading liquidity.

Van Lanschot Kempen’s capital position remains strong with a CET1 ratio of 17.1% at the end of the third quarter (30 June 2026: 17.0%) according to the “Basel IV fully loaded” definition.
