New and existing clients entrusted us with significantly more of their wealth, both in private banking and in fiduciary management for pension funds. To us, this confirms that clients value our personal approach, expertise and long-term focus. We achieved scalable growth, as demonstrated by our improved cost/income ratio.

"In the second quarter, financial markets recovered from the sharp movements seen in March, despite continuing geopolitical uncertainty.

"Assets under management (AuM) grew by 18% to €188.2 billion. Private Clients Netherlands recorded strong net inflows of €1.5 billion and positive market performance, resulting in 12% growth in AuM compared with year-end 2025. Around two-thirds of the net inflows were driven by investments from new clients. In Belgium, AuM grew by 6%, supported by net inflows of €0.2 billion and positive market performance.

"Investment Management Clients, which manages assets for pension funds among other clients, recorded net inflows of €17.8 billion. In the first half of the year, Dutch pension funds Stichting Pensioenfonds voor de Woningcorporaties and Stichting Pensioenfonds Haskoning Nederland selected Van Lanschot Kempen as their fiduciary manager.

"As a result, our total client assets exceeded €200 billion for the first time. This is an important milestone for Van Lanschot Kempen, and a sign that more clients are choosing us to help preserve and grow their wealth.

"Net profit rose by 30% to €88.2 million, compared with €67.8 million in the same period last year. This was mainly due to growth in commission income (+10%) and interest income (+27%). Based on current market conditions, we are raising our full-year interest income guidance from €180–195 million to around €200 million. Disciplined execution of our strategy improved our cost/income ratio to 66.4%, from 71.8% a year earlier. This shows that we are combining growth with an increasingly efficient organisation.

"Over the past six months, we have continued to deliver on our ‘Growing further together’ strategy. This centres on generating scalable, profitable and sustainable long-term growth while maintaining a capital-light balance sheet. We have turned this strategic focus into action through a range of initiatives.

"Within Private Clients Netherlands, we are increasingly supporting clients with a combination of investing and financing. This is reflected in the growth of our loan portfolio. In the first half of the year, we further developed our wealth management lending product to meet growing client demand. In Belgium, we further strengthened our organisation and Mercier Van Lanschot was named 'Best for High Net Worth’ at the Euromoney Private Banking Awards 2026.

"Alongside these investments in private banking, we also expanded our private markets offering, with total AuM in private markets solutions growing to €6.5 billion. In July, we secured $120 million in commitments from private banking clients for our second North American private equity fund. More than €180 million was also committed to our new fund investing in existing private equity portfolios, known as secondaries. Since 2018, we have introduced six private equity funds. These funds give clients access to investments that were previously often available only to institutional investors. Our liquid investment strategies also saw positive momentum, with net inflows of €0.3 billion in the first half of the year. To accelerate this growth, we are exploring potential strategic partnerships for these liquid investment strategies.

"The planned joint venture with KBC Securities for our equities activities remains on track to launch in the fourth quarter. This partnership will give clients access to broader Benelux equities research, pan-European expertise in real estate and life sciences, and improved trading liquidity. It will also broaden our reach among investors for transactions including equity offerings.

"As we continue to build scale and deepen our expertise, strong client relationships remain the foundation of our success. In June, we were recognised in the UK as ‘Fiduciary Manager of the Year’ at the UK Pensions Awards for the third year running. Satisfaction among our private banking clients in the Netherlands improved in the first half of the year, with Private Clients Netherlands' Net Promoter Score (NPS), which measures how likely these clients are to recommend us, rising to 45. Clients particularly value the combination of expert advice and personal conversations about their financial future. That is what sets us apart.

"We continue to broaden the use of technology to further strengthen our client service. By organising routine work more intelligently, we create more time for personal contact and value-adding advice. That's why private bankers and colleagues from our digital teams are working together closely on AI-enabled tools that help us serve clients even better. Our approach was recognised for the second year running at the PWM Wealth Tech Awards 2026, part of the Financial Times. Van Lanschot Kempen received three awards, including ‘Best Digital Private Bank in the Netherlands’ and ‘Best Private Bank for Digital Innovation in Europe’.

"In the second half of the year, we will further invest in growth and in our service to clients. I'm particularly looking forward to the opening of our new Amsterdam office in the fully renovated Breitner Center. At the end of this year, we will welcome clients and colleagues there in a modern, personal environment that meets the highest sustainability standards.

"Our results put us firmly on track to achieve our 2027 financial targets. More importantly, we are continuing to build an independent specialist wealth manager that grows and innovates while remaining firmly focused on our clients and the society around us. Our progress is only possible because of the trust of our clients and the commitment of our colleagues. I would like to sincerely thank them for that.”

Performance report / presentation / conference call

For a detailed discussion of Van Lanschot Kempen’s results and balance sheet, please see our performance report and presentation on the 2026 half-year results at Financial results. Through the Kempen North American Private Equity Fund II, clients gain exposure to small and mid-sized private companies in North America through carefully selected specialised private equity managers and direct co-investments.

Sven Smeets, Head of Private Equity Strategy at Van Lanschot Kempen: “We continue to see strong demand for private markets investments among our clients. Despite geopolitical uncertainty, the North American private equity market remains attractive due to its scale, diversity and specialised investment partners. Because private equity portfolios are built over time, the exact timing of entry is less critical. Historically, periods of uncertainty and market volatility have often turned out to be attractive vintages for private equity. We currently have a strong pipeline of compelling private equity funds and co-investments, and expect to be able to deploy the capital raised from this first close within a relatively short period.”

Kempen North American Private Equity Fund II is the second fund focused on North America and the sixth private equity fund that Van Lanschot Kempen has launched since 2018. The fund forms part of a broader, multi-year private equity programme that enables clients to build a well-diversified private equity portfolio. The fund’s next subscription round will close in October 2026.

Van Lanschot Kempen offers both private and institutional clients a broad range of private markets solutions, including private equity, private debt, farmland and real estate. The starting point is the insight that time, not money, is the most valuable asset. Something the Netherlands’ oldest independent financial institution understands like no other. In this new chapter of the campaign, the focus shifts from the freedom time provides, to the potential, opportunities and challenges it offers a new generation. This creates both tension and optimism, a friction that is reflected in the new film and photography.

These were developed in close collaboration with Robin de Puy (100% Film & Photography), a renowned photographer whose work has been exhibited in museums such as Museum Voorlinden and FOAM, and featured in international publications including The New Yorker. She has translated the distinctive feel of Van Lanschot Kempen into iconic photography and film.

“Time has always been a fascinating subject for me. I have a kind of love–hate relationship with it. Ultimately, everything depends on timing. You can sense that in this campaign and in the characters I choose. It comes through in instinct, in layers, and in a spontaneous expression that feels meaningful,” says Robin de Puy on her work for Van Lanschot Kempen.

The new film follows a younger generation. He has not yet reached the top and knows the path is not linear, but he continues to move in the right direction. He will get there. And when he does, Van Lanschot Kempen is there: a private bank that recognises potential and gives time to your wealth.

The same feeling is captured in the photography. The portraits are shot at close range. Subtle facial expressions, pronounced shadows and a spark in the eyes all contribute to a series that fits seamlessly within Robin de Puy’s body of work.

Wendy Winkelhuijzen, member of the Management Board at Van Lanschot Kempen and responsible for Private Banking Netherlands: “With our latest campaign, we continue to deliver on our promise to current and future clients: we give time to your wealth. We now build on that promise by focusing on the boundless potential of time. For a generation that has not yet fully arrived, but will get there. For people who have already achieved so much, yet still have more to offer. A compelling new chapter and a natural continuation of our story.”

2026

After a strong start of the year, the conflict in the Middle East sparked sharp market movements in March, leading to negative equity market performance. This made private banking clients more cautious about increasing equity positions, while new clients tended to opt for more gradual market entry. In these circumstances, clients are seeking guidance, and we’re helping them navigate the markets with a long-term perspective. We remain focused on our clients and on scalable growth with a personal and efficient approach supported by the targeted use of AI, in line with our ‘Growing further together’ strategy.”

In the first quarter, Private Clients Netherlands recorded net AuM inflows of €0.9 billion (Q1 2025: €1.2 billion). In the first months of the year, clients converted part of their savings into investments, resulting in a net decrease in savings of €0.5 billion. Net AuM inflows at Private Clients Belgium amounted to €0.2 billion (Q1 2025: €0.5 billion).

Within Investment Management Clients, net AuM inflows were strong at €16.2 billion (Q1 2025: €2.5 billion). This was mainly driven by the mandate of Stichting Pensioenfonds voor de Woningcorporaties within fiduciary management. In addition, both liquid and alternative investment strategies recorded net inflows.

Commission income rose, driven by growth in clients and AuM. Interest income was in line with expectations and, for the full year 2026, net interest income is expected to amount to €180-195 million. With costs remaining well controlled, Van Lanschot Kempen achieved a solid result in line with the previous quarter.

Van Lanschot Kempen’s capital position remains strong with a CET1 ratio of 17.1% (2025: 18.2%) according to the “Basel IV fully loaded” definition. The decrease from year-end was driven by the effect of the planned capital return of €0.80 per share1 (0.7 percentage points), growth in the loan book (0.2 percentage points) and a temporary effect (0.2 percentage points) due to the repurchase of own shares to cover the depositary receipts to be allocated to employees under the existing remuneration policy. The distribution of these shares in the second quarter will, once again, have a positive effect on the CET1 ratio.

On 24 April 2026, De Nederlandsche Bank announced that the minimum risk-weight floor for mortgages will be discontinued after 30 November 2026. As at 31 March 2026, this minimum floor had a negative impact of approximately 1.5 percentage points on the CET1 ratio.

1The capital return was approved by shareholders at the extraordinary general meeting held on 9 April 2026, with payment scheduled for 25 June 2026.

Financial calendar

21 May 2026 - Annual general meeting (AGM)
25 May 2026 - Ex-dividend date
3 June 2026 - 2025 dividend payment date
23 June 2026 - Ex-capital return date
25 June 2026 - Capital return payment date
27 August 2026 - Publication of 2026 half-year results
30 October 2026 - Publication of third-quarter 2026 trading update

2026

The report offers clients, shareholders and other stakeholders a detailed insight in our approach to sustainable investments during the year.

Erik van Houwelingen, Member of the Management Board and responsible for Investment Management Clients: “2025 saw a great deal of turbulence. Shifts in international relations had a major impact, including on sustainability views and on our investment portfolios. Investors are called to straddle movements that sometimes appear to be pulling in opposite directions: on the one hand, we’re witnessing one natural disaster after another and feeling the growing urgency to become more sustainable, while, on the other, there’s a renewed focus on fossil energy and an increasing need to invest in safety and autonomy. Polarisation sometimes seems to be widening the gap between the two views ever further, and with it the need to navigate.

“In this complex landscape, we’re here for our clients: together we set that course towards their long-term goals. As active investors, we do the same in our own portfolios, with agility and focus.”

The full report can be downloaded from the website:
Stewardship and Sustainable Investment Report 2025

2026

With the Kempen North American Private Equity Fund II, private banking clients can invest, through carefully selected specialised private equity managers and direct co-investments, in small and mid-sized private companies in North America.

Wendy Winkelhuijzen, Member of the Management Board of Van Lanschot Kempen, responsible for Private Banking Netherlands: “The demand for private markets offerings remains strong. In 2025, private banking clients committed more than €540 million to our private equity funds, which have become a component of well‑diversified investment portfolios. As a wealth manager with an in-house investment manager, we can respond to this demand with diversified solutions. Thanks to our broad network and the long-standing expertise of our private markets specialists, we offer clients access to opportunities that were traditionally available only to institutional investors.”

This is the second fund focused on North America and the sixth private equity fund that Van Lanschot Kempen has launched since 2018. Like its predecessor, the fund is offered in a closed-end structure with a ten-year term. By combining investments in private equity funds with co-investments, the fund achieves strong diversification and is designed to generate positive cash flow sooner.

Sven Smeets, Head of the Private Equity Strategy at Van Lanschot Kempen Investment Management: “North America is the world’s largest and most dynamic private equity market. Despite the challenging geopolitical environment, we continue to see a wide range of high-quality companies with realistic valuations in the North American private equity sector. Our investment approach remains unchanged and focuses on small and mid-sized companies with relatively lower entry valuations, responsible use of leverage, and strong operational and strategic improvement programs. In North America, these companies form the backbone of the economy and often offer the highest return potential. In this way, we cater to the demand for attractive illiquid investment opportunities that could contribute to expected long-term growth.”

Disclaimer

This is a marketing message.

Kempen North American Private Equity Fund II (the "Sub-fund") is a sub-fund of the Van Lanschot Kempen Umbrella III Coöperatief U.A. This proposal was announced on the day of the release of Van Lanschot Kempen’s 2025 full-year results on 26 February 2026. De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB) has approved the capital return.

If shareholders agree to the capital return, payment will, in principle, take place in June 2026. This will be charged to the proportion of the share premium reserve available for distribution, and the total share capital in issue will be unchanged. At the end of 2025, the CET1 ratio amounted to 18.2%, according to the “Basel IV fully loaded” definition. The impact of the capital return on the CET1 ratio is approximately 0.7% percentage points, resulting in a pro-forma CET1 ratio of 17.5%, which is in line with Van Lanschot Kempen’s target.

The capital return proposal and resolutions to amend the Articles of Association to effect the return will be put to a vote at the EGM scheduled to take place in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands, on 9 April 2026 at 2.00 pm CEST. The notification, agenda and explanatory notes, and the proposals to amend the Articles of Association may be accessed at Shareholders’ meetings on our website.

2026

Current and new clients entrusted us with more of their wealth and client assets rose by 7% to €180 billion. Client satisfaction, a key gauge of our success, remained high across private banking, investment management and investment banking.

“Within private banking, we’re seeing ever greater demand from families seeking advice as they prepare for a transfer of wealth to the next generation. Research we carried out with Campden Wealth revealed that over half of all family offices in the Benelux region expect the next generation to take over at the helm of the family company within the next decade. A large majority of family offices is active in philanthropy and impact investing, a development we see more broadly among our clients. It’s precisely at times of major personal and financial impact that our clients experience the added value of our specialist teams helping them to achieve their long-term goals. Our growth momentum stayed robust and bolstered our position in the market. In the Netherlands, assets under management (AuM) grew by 10% and Belgium showed an impressive 16% increase, albeit from a smaller base. To help us provide an unchanged high level of personal service, we welcomed new colleagues and also expanded our local presence.

“Private banking clients are increasingly moving into private market investments. This resulted in growth for our private equity products, with commitments from clients in the Netherlands, Belgium and Switzerland of over €540 million to put into our newly launched private equity funds. We’re also noting growth among institutional clients, with multiple pension funds in the Netherlands and the United Kingdom having selected us as their fiduciary manager. For our liquid investment strategies, 2025 was a challenging year, chiefly because of outflows from our small-cap investment strategies.

“Through strategic partnerships we add scale, innovation and additional expertise to our services. We choose partners that are a good fit in terms of culture and shared long-term focus. In 2025, we embarked on a partnership with State Street Investment Management to strengthen our investment solutions, including through active ETFs, and early in 2026 we announced our intention to team up with KBC Securities in a 50/50 joint venture to combine our investment banks’ specialist equities activities. This combination will form a leading equities broker in the Benelux region and a pan-European specialist in real estate and life sciences.

“We are further supporting our growth and personal service by investing in digitalisation and AI, focusing on specific applications to improve the client experience, tools for analysing investments and more efficient administrative processes. A great deal of attention was also paid to training our people to apply AI in a responsible and productive way.

“In 2026, we’ll stay focused on implementing our ‘Growing further together’ strategy and will continue to invest in digital acceleration and scalable growth, always in the service of our personal offering. In these volatile times, which call for resilience and agility, we’re staying close to our clients. I’d like to thank all our colleagues for their engagement and commitment, and our clients for their trust.”

Performance report, presentation and webcast

For a detailed discussion of Van Lanschot Kempen’s results and balance sheet, please see our performance report and presentation on the 2025 full-year results in the Financial results section.
